Triumph of a computer competition

A team of three students of Computer Engineering of the CEU-UCH has won honorable mention in international programming competition Southwestern European Regional Programming Contest (2010 SWERC .) Joan Climent, Francisco Marín, Vicent Olivert and Professor Francisco Zamora, who has been coached the last few months, have been the best team in Valencia and the English quarter of this year's competition.

This competition is included in the International Collegiate Programming Contest of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM ), the most important internationally within the field of computing. The company sponsoring this event IBM participates in the hunt for new talent in the field of information systems. The team faces competition from countries of southwestern Europe. Different universities in Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal and Israel sent to the best teams, filtered after a hard internal selection criteria.

The competition is based on solving complex problems of a high level. The team that manages to solve most problems in the shortest time and the smallest possible number of attempts is the winner of the competition. Despite being the first time the team CEU-UCH participating in this contest, has gained an excellent position ahead of other universities in Valencia, in fourth place nationally since mid-table at the international level, well ahead of prestigious European universities.
